Animation is now a very popular style of telling a story, not only in the cinema but now with the rapid growth of social media, it is now a popular style for videos online. YouTube is now the biggest video uploading website on the internet meaning anybody anywhere can upload their work and get it seen by anyone around the world. This has led to me asking the question of how to make a popular animation on YouTube.

Before I started researching into this question, I already knew that YouTube provides popularity for peoples' video creations. People use the website to their advantage so they can get recognised as an animator or to make money. YouTube has created a community for animators which gives the chance for them to collaborate and develop new ideas. However the content of the video isn't always what gains it popularity, as promotion is important too. Social media is now an easy way for "youtubers" to share their work online and interact with their audience. This has proven there is much more to just the content of your animation to get it popular on YouTube. I will be conducting my research from articles and interviews online and my own primary research of interviews and view tracking as no books exist that are relevant to this topic.
